John Neffeur, president of the US Semiconductor Industry Association, stated that Vietnam is the most attractive destination for American chipmakers. This follows a meeting with the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, and heads of top American semiconductor firms like Intel, Qualcomm, Ampere, and ARM. Neffeur praised Vietnam for its progress in the semiconductor industry and its role in the global supply chain. The Prime Minister outlined Vietnam’s strategy to expand its workforce and attract leading foreign firms, intending to have 50,000 highly skilled engineers by 2030. Both parties agreed on the mutual benefits of collaboration and discussed the need to remove limitations on technology transfer, workforce development, and research lab construction.
