Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan will visit Vietnam from December 12-13 at the invitation of Vietnamese leaders to mark the 15th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
This will be Xi’s third visit as China’s head of state. Bilateral trade between Vietnam and China hit $175.6 billion in 2022, with China being Vietnam’s largest trade partner and ranking 6th in FDI in Vietnam. The visit follows the Vietnamese Party General Secretary’s trip to China in October 2022. Both countries emphasize the importance of their relationship, aiming to strengthen cooperation in diplomacy, defense, security, and trade.
