Vietnam welcomes investment in hi-tech, semiconductor industries

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam has welcomed and encouraged investments in the hi-tech and semiconductor industries, offering suitable mechanisms, incentives, and modern infrastructure. Lam Research, a leading US semiconductor manufacturing equipment provider, and Seojin of South Korea are planning to collaborate in semiconductor chip production in Vietnam.

Lam Research aims to expand its operations and diversify its supply chain in Asia, with Vietnam being a key focus. The company plans to invest $1-2 billion in the first phase and may consider further expansion. Prime Minister Chính emphasized the importance of research and development, technology transfer, and a smooth and legal investment process for the development of a robust semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam.
